About: Kristyn was born and raised in Utica, NY area. In 2009, Kristyn graduated with her B.S. in Business, concentration in Marketing in S.U.N.Y Oswego. She started her professional career in fundraising and marketing for federal and state political campaigns. She then grew her experience in policy as the Minority Analyst for the Oneida County Board of Legislators. It didn't take long for her to feel as though something was missing in her professions. In 2012, Kristyn began her career at United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, where she was able to fulfill the desire to better her community and help her enable other community members to do the same. Kristyn's favorite part about working at United Way, is that at the end of the day she and multiple volunteers and donors have helped 1 in 4 people in her community.

About: Samantha graduated from Utica College in May of 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. Samantha held an internship at the Kentucky Distiller’s Association in Frankfort, Kentucky where she assisted with promoting member distilleries and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and helped to expand general knowledge of bourbon history and tourism. She also assisted with the even coordination of the 2016 Bourbon Festival in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Samantha also interned and was a part-time employee at NYCM Insurance in their Marketing Department throughout college. In 2017 she began working at NYCM full-time as a PR Specialist in Brand Management. NYCM Insurance is a family-oriented place to work that genuinely cares about the well-being of their employees and are constantly pushing them to strive to be their best self emotionally, physically, mentally and intellectually.

Insurance is something that each and every individual will have to deal with at some point in their life and Samantha enjoys trying to make others appreciate the insurance industry and what it can offer them and their families. Each day, she gets to work with multiple organizations and charities, and truly enjoy meeting and getting to know so many great people. Samantha’s job is different every day with a new and exciting project which is another reason why she enjoys NYCM Insurance and the PR industry in general.

Specialties: At NYCM Insurance, Samantha’s specific role is the planning and execution of branding and promotional events. These are events where new products are introduced, expanding client base/targeting market, or teaching a certain public about a new or existing coverage. Samantha also works with the NYCM social media coordinator to promote these types of events on their social and blogging platforms. Samantha works on media connections and writing press releases about events, products, fundraising, etc. These press releases are then used to distribute to local media, independent agents, and on social and blogging platforms.

Angela Izzo | Senior Accountant


About: Angela Izzo joined the D’Arcangelo & Company tax team in 2015. As a Senior Accountant, Angela works with a multitude of clients ranging from individuals to large corporations. She is responsible for many different projects and client relations, working in such areas as corporate taxation, individual taxation, and business consulting.

Angela is driven by her dedication to give her clients the best tax advice for their specific situations. She is able to do this by analyzing and reviewing each client’s needs and then creating a customized plan of action for them. Angela is an honors graduate from Hartwick College with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting. About: Lauren Ludllow CLCS, CWCS Strategic Risk Advisor (SRA), joined the Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy team in 2011. As an SRA, Lauren works with small businesses to help them identify and manage their overall exposure to risk and address it through innovative approaches to insurance. Prior to joining the production team for GKG, Lauren worked as an Account Manager for the Small Commercial department and interned in the Client Advocate department while attending college.

Carli Sterling | Campaign Coordinator


About: Carli considers herself a true Utican. Born and raised in Utica, NY. Carli graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College with an Associates in Applied Science in Human Services. Her passion has always been helping others, she begun her career journey doing case management with pregnant adolescents. After volunteering with United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, she knew this was the agency she wanted to be part of. An agency that looks at our community's most pressing needs and finds solutions to those problems. Roughly two years after her first volunteer event with United Way VGU, Carli was brought on as a staff person in the fundraising department.

Specialties: Carli now works with small businesses, major corporations, nonprofit organizations, really any business of any size in Oneida and Herkimer counties to assist in creating a workplace culture that promotes philanthropy, volunteerism and community pride. Carli can assist in getting your workplaces involved with United Way through a workplace campaign, a corporate sponsorship, engaging employees in one of the many volunteer opportunities we have or planning a volunteer activity customized to your workplace. United Way VGU also has several boards that are a great way to get involved, such as our Women United and Emerging Leaders United infinity groups.
