About: Jean Laninga Portraits is the creation of photographer, seamstress, and all things fashion and beauty for the real women. As a professional photographer since 2008, though a pragmatist at heart, armed with her education in Clothing Design and Construction, work in theater costume design, and her passion for empowering the normal, real, authentic woman with a celebrity-like experience, she opened her own private boutique
studio in Uptown Phoenix. She is a graduate of the Sue Bryce 12-Week Business Startup and current member of Sue Bryce Education, a mentoring program for photographers in business where Jean has earned several honors for works submitted for accreditation. Though she works with all people and all ages, in her work, she most enjoys celebrating and pampering the mature woman with a transformative experience where she not only looks and feels beautiful, but then leaves with beloved heirloom quality portraits for herself and generations to come.
Specialties: What makes Jean's portraiture unique is her specialty in a boutique-style portrait experience complete with design consultations, wardrobe styling, professional in-studio hair and makeup, fully guided photoshoot, and gorgeous prints, enlargements, custom framing, and folio box collections for her clients to choose from. She aims to take care of her clients every step of the way in this sometimes uncertain experience, in a safe and positive setting.
Quote: "Knowing yourself, and learning to love yourself as you are, is the beginning of beauty. I think the most important thing is to show off what's most beautiful about you to hide what's less beautiful." - Sonia Rykiel
