About: La Faye Baker is the FIRST African American stuntwoman to coordinate a big budget project, HBO’s special Introducing Dorothy Dandridge starring Halle Berry. That was in 1999, 21 years later and Baker is back with HBO, working as the assistant stunt coordinator on Issa Rae’s Insecure. Baker also was the stunt coordinator of Family reunion and Kingdom Business. She has performed the riskiest of stunts for some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Angela Bassett, Regina King, Regina Hall, Alfre Woodard, Loretta Devine, Lynn Whitfield, Keesha Sharp, Vanessa Bell Calloway, and many others while working on major motion pictures and nationally syndicated TV shows including, Hannibal, Lethal Weapon, What’s Love Got To Do With It, Scary Movie 2, Green Lantern, Fracture, House, and more. Baker is devoted to diversifying the stuntwoman industry as she runs a conference designed to prepare women to become stunt women and coordinators. She’s also the founder of the Action Icon Awards which recognizes the achievements of stunt women, actresses, and sports enthusiasts, all the while benefiting Baker’s Diamond In The Raw Charity devoted to empowering and transforming the lives of foster care and at-risk teen girls between the ages of 12-18 through the arts and S.T. E. M. education
